Modernizes the Commonwealth's unit-pricing and price-accuracy regime for retailers using scanner and automated checkout (self-checkout, scan-and-go, RFID, AI vision) systems.

Who must comply: Retail food stores and any retailer operating 3 or more automated retail checkout systems (self-checkout, scan-and-go, AI vision, RFID).
Penalty range: $200 per violation, up to $5,000 per inspection

- 1All automated retail checkout systems in stores with 3+ registers must be examined by DOS (or a local sealer) at least every 24 months.
- 2Unit-price displays must be legible from 3 feet, and included in any digital shelf display.
- 3Scan-and-go and self-checkout systems must have a published accuracy rate and a staffed override.
- 4Scanner waiver stores must post consumer price-accuracy notices at every register.
- 5AI-vision checkout platforms are treated as an automated retail checkout system for the first time.
