AF1 year (Jul 1 – Jun 30)
Anti-freeze Permit
$25

Required to sell anti-freeze products within the Commonwealth. Products must meet state testing standards under M.G.L. c. 94 §§ 303G–303L.

AU1 year from issuance
Auctioneer License
$100

Required to act as an auctioneer anywhere in the Commonwealth. The Division regulates all auctions held in Massachusetts.

Auto Glass Repair License
$450

All motor vehicle glass repair shops must register under M.G.L. c. 100A. The Division inspects shops and reviews complaints of improper repairs.

Auto Repair Shop License

All motor vehicle damage repair (body) shops must register under M.G.L. c. 100A. Includes posted-price and estimate requirements.

Hawker & Peddler License

Required to sell goods on foot or from a vehicle (including food trucks, ice-cream trucks, door-to-door sales).

Special Peddler — Vision Impaired & Veterans
Free

Fee-waived Hawker Peddler license for qualifying vision-impaired residents and certain veterans.

Motor Fuel & Lubricating Oil License
$150

Required to sell motor fuel or automotive lubricating oil. Covers branded and unbranded retailers; includes dispenser grade and price-display compliance.

Promoter License (Classes A–F)

Required for anyone who organizes an event and rents, leases, or grants space to goods vendors. Fee is based on class (A–F) by event size.

Scanner Waiver

Allows a retail food store to sell groceries without affixing a price label to every item (in exchange, strict price-accuracy and shelf-tag rules apply).

Transient Vendor License

Required for anyone selling goods from a single fixed location for less than one year (pop-up retail, seasonal stands).

Not a DOS license? CSL, hoisting, electrician, and plumber licenses are issued by the Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL).
